Want to be able to work from two apps simultaneously or display two different apps to students during class to compare and contrast concepts?
Today’s Tip
Splitting your screen can allow users to show items in two different apps at the same time, helping to streamline one’s workflow. The split screen option on your iPad helps with focus and retention of information. You won’t have to switch back and forth between applications, potentially losing information during the switch. It also helps with comprehension when you can see all of your information at once.
Note: Split screen does not work with two instances of the same app. It is also recommended that you use this feature in landscape mode, but it will also work in portrait mode.
How to Split Your iPad Screen
Splitting your screen is very easy to do:
- Open an app that you want to view.
- At the top of your iPad screen, tap the three white dots.
- Select Split View. This will slide the current app to the side.
- Now choose the second app you would like to have open from your home screen.
- Use the vertical divider bar to increase the size of one app and decrease the size of the other.
- Switch the sides of your apps by selecting the three dots at the top of the app and choosing Split View again. You will then have access to choose the side you would like to place the app on.
- When finished, tap the three dots at the top of your screen in one of your apps again and choose the Full Screen option.
Play with some of these settings to better enhance your workflow and find a system that works well for you.
