Are there websites that you use so often that a direct link from your iPad home screen would make your processes more efficient?

Today’s tip

You can add shortcut links to your iPad home screen, allowing you quick access to your most commonly used websites. For individuals with fine motor difficulties, this is an essential function. These links will appear like apps and be organized as you learned in a previous post, Customizing Your Dock and Organizing Apps.

  1. Open a browser app (e.g. Chrome, Safari) and navigate to the website for which you’d like to create a home screen shortcut.
  2. Tap on the Share icon, usually in the upper right or left, which is the box with the up arrow.
  3. In the menu that appears, scroll down to find and tap “Add to Home Screen.”
  4. In the first line, change the name of the website as you’d like it to appear on your home screen. Tip within a tip: Keep it short and lead with important words since longer text may be cut off when added.
  5. Tap Add in the top right corner.
  6. Confirm the link appears and works from your iPad home screen.

Video Tutorial

A brief video tutorial about Adding Shortcut Links to the Home Screen (Run time: 1:09) has been created to help illustrate these functions and capabilities better. This video uses LionPATH as an example of a website, without an associated app, that might be added to your home screen.
