Would you like to have a flexible notebook that expands to your needs inside your iPad? Do you often feel the need to take notes, draw visuals, or annotate documents? Well, the Notability app on your iPad will do just that!
[A special thanks to Laura Palmer for this resource!]
Today’s Tip
Notability is a note-taking app for iPads. It is available free to all Penn State Altoona faculty. The app allows you to create notes and place them into a library, based on your individualized needs. You can continue to add new dividers and subjects as you build your library of notes.
You can import documents into Notability and annotate them. You can also create handwritten notes, draw diagrams, and record audio. The Gallery even provides templates that you can build from.
Handwriting, drawing, and annotating are great ways to engage with content in new ways. Students might prefer to think about the concepts in your course visually. Not to mention that you might find it easier to take notes in a meeting.
Possible Use Cases for Notability
- Import student work into Notability and provide handwritten feedback
- Draw diagrams and share them during your lectures
- Take notes during a meeting
- Storyboard out an idea
- Record audio and add notes to that audio
- Draw a comic book character
Laura Palmer, PhD, Associate Professor of Biology here at Penn State Altoona, created a handy resource to help you get started using the app. To access an accessible version of this document, visit Notability Quick Reference- Accessible Version.
