Do you want to temporarily turn off notifications so that they don’t appear during instruction, presentations, or times for focused work? Or maybe you just need a break from receiving notifications in general?

Today’s Tip:

The “Do Not Disturb” feature is meant to minimize or eliminate distractions, silencing calls, alerts, and notifications while enabled. When enabled, you will see a crescent moon icon in the status bar and on your Lock Screen. This feature is helpful for individuals who need dedicated focus time or have difficulty with distractions.

There are two ways to enable Do Not Disturb:

Option 1: From Settings

  1. Go to Settings and choose Focus from the menu.
  2. Tap Do Not Disturb.
  3. You can customize the settings! Select allowed or silenced notifications from people and apps, connect your Lock Screen or Home Screen, add Focus filters for apps and system settings, and have the Focus turn on automatically at a set time, location, or while using a certain app. This could be useful for those using the iPad during class instruction or standing meetings, for example.

Option 2: From Control Center

  1. Open your Control Center by using one finger to swipe down from the top right corner of your screen.
  2. Touch and hold Focus.
  3. Tap Do Not Disturb.
  4. You can customize the timing of the feature and tap to go to Settings (see option 1).

Note: Whichever option you choose, don’t forget to turn off/disable the Do Not Disturb feature when not needed!
